While Trent Reznor might not be the most easy going guy in the world, his intelligence, comfort with technology and its place in the live creative experience cannot be ignored.  I was reminded of this again seeing Kanye re-post (yes I occasionally look at Kanye’s blog…what? its good) this video about the NIN interactive stage show that they had on their last tour.

This is a highlight reel from the Moment Factory the team in Canada that developed the system and show with NIN for their 08 tour.

This reminded me alot of the best live show I’ve ever seen - the 2007 Daft Punk tour stop in Coney Island, NY. Daft Punk and Trent Reznor understand that this kind of considered and elevated experience at a concert is what turns a memory into something unforgettable and ignites word of mouth (viral etc).  Its a lesson more brands would do well to consider when they think about the experiences they share with their customers.

After seeing this (and partially cause they are touring with Janes Addiction) I’m swayed to go see there show at Jones Beach for the experience, even though I’m not a big fan.
