Polaroid Photographers Plead Their Case via NY Times
I love polaroid and its been tough to not shoot with it as much since the discontinued the line. I stockpiled some film when it went out of production, but have used up the reserves I had. Recently when I went to buy some more, I had to pull back on the amount because the cost has more than doubled in the last few months. The minimum cost is around $20 per 10 pack including shipping. At $2 a picture, its such a mental struggle to find a shot worth it.
It used to be my goto wedding gift for friends. I would shoot the day of the wedding and then give the couple the shots. I have enough to shoot my friend Randi
Others share that feeling right now and you can hear some of their thoughts in this nice interactive piece by NY Times.
“Five photographers who regularly shoot with Polaroid instant cameras describe the impact of the company’s decision to discontinue the film in February 2008, and their hopes for a return of the film’s production by The Impossible Project, a group of European entrepreneurs that have acquired control of the Dutch factory where the film was once made.”
