About 10 years ago I was the Associate Producer on John Mayer’s first music video, No Such Thing, directed by Sam Erickson. I was cleaning up some book shelves last night and came upon some old photos from the shoot. This is a print I made from some of the behind-the-scenes stuff I shot. This was rehearsal (his shirt is different from the video) and you can see the crane-cam on the right swoopin in for a shot of John.
The video earned him a nomination for Best New Artist at the MTV Awards in 2002. It was great to shoot in the Georgia Theatre in Athens where I had seen so many shows growing up and so many great bands had their start. Good to see it’ll re-open in August after a fire closed it down a few years ago.
