What the fu%* happened to Dame Dash?  I understand he’s working on this whole “reinvention” thing but when did the guy who used to be one of the toughest guys in hip-hop turn into a hipster?  The businessman behind Roc-A-Fella and Roc-A-Wear looks like Erkel and Cobrasnake had a love child in this photo.
All that being said…his new label put out BlakRoc from the Black Keys, which is a great first album for an upstart label and from what I hear from the people I know who know him, he’s as dedicated as ever to getting back on top.

With Dame Dash & Raq-Steady in his new DD172 gallery/studio/TV channel/magazine headquarters last night. The Cool Kids & Nicole Wray (‘member her from that ‘98 hit entitled “Make It Hot” with Timbaland & Missy?!) were jamming in the studio for BlacRoc 2.

In New York, concrete jungles where dreams are made of
There’s nothing you can’t do, now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you, let’s hear it for New York
    New York, New York

Wow. I have never pre-ordered an album. I’m pre-ordering this.
via thebigasian:
this is probably the most excited I’ve been to hear a new album this year. I love The Black Keys, and every rapper that’s featured in their upcoming album is fresh to deaf. Mos Def, RZA, Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P.’s Billy Danze, Jones, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.  comes out 11.27.09.  check out the trailor here
